Engagement (Standard 1 through Standard 4)
This section ensures that crucial program stakeholders align with the pursuit of certification as a PORi Center of Excellence and underscores their commitment to providing the necessary resources and administrative support to excel in oncology rehabilitation, encompassing operational and clinical domains, and fostering multidisciplinary collaboration with key members of the oncological team.
1. Educational Requirements - Individual PORi Certification
All PORi Centers of Excellence are committed to enhancing the provision of oncology rehabilitation by dedicating resources to clinical education tailored to this specialized field. It is expected that all clinicians either possess PORi certifications or are actively pursuing them. Clinicians are strongly encouraged to seek opportunities to expand their expertise in caring for oncology rehabilitation patients.

Each oncology rehabilitation provider (PT, PTA, OT, COTA, SLP, and SLPA) must have completed a minimum of the PORi Foundation in Oncology Rehabilitation course. Additionally, each provider must complete the PORi CORE Course most relevant to their initial area of practice prior to treating any oncology patients. All PORi Centers of Excellence must have PORi-Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Therapists or PORi-Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Specialists on staff according to the following requirements:
i) At least two PORi-Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Specialists; OR
ii) A combination of PORi-Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Specialist(s) and PORi-Certified Oncology Rehabilitation Therapist(s) that, when combined, are certified in all PORi CORE courses (a single therapist may qualify for more than 1 CORE course if they have completed more than 1 CORE course).
